The Hot Tamales were discussing the weekend happenings in the back of a calculus class at the University of Saskatchewan. It was there that they discovered their musical background was similar. Both played with family bands and both started playing professionally at the age of 14. It should be noted that both dropped out of the calculus class. Just nine years later, music brought them back together.

In 1990, the group that eventually evolved into the Hot Tamales started out as a 5 piece country band that never made it out of the basement. Late night rehearsals combined with conflicting schedules stunted any advancement. Fellow rehearse, James MacKenzie (drummer), suggested to Stan that he team up with Peter, buy the technology and run as a two man show using computers. The guys took the recommendation and the rest is history…

The Hot Tamales are a a versatile band. You can find them performing at weddings, hockey dances, jamborees, ladies nights, shopping malls, casinos and even the grocery store.

And yes - they travel - as far south as Las Vegas Nevada for an exciting 2 night performance
